Subject: CFP: AI & Culture — SWPACA 2027 Albuquerque, NM — Deadline October 31, 2026
Area Chair: Andrew Chen, PhD, Minnesota State University Moorhead,
andrewsw@gmail.com
This area seeks to be broadly about all things related to AI, including,
but not limited to:
- scholarship done by, or with the assistance of, AI
- AI as a cultural phenomena, including scholarship about popular
culture works that directly or indirectly treat AI as a subject matter
- AI as a phenomena that can impact culture
- creative works “by” AI, as well as critiques saying that such works
are inherently not “creative”
- scholarship about any of those things mentioned so far
- “AI perspectives” on any of those things mentioned so far
There are five rules for this area:
- All perspectives regarding AI get their say: we will have the opposing
sides of “AI advocate” and “AI resistant critic” be polite and civil
towards each other
- Every presentation must have a human that claims responsibility for
it, even if it is prepared primarily or exclusively by AI
- A human must present at the in-person conference, even if an AI is
capable of doing so
- As AI becomes more capable, these rules are subject to change
- Humans are expected to engage in full disclosure about the extent to
which AI contributed to the work, and should be willing to engage in
discussions about that
Please note that as AI is impacting many areas, some proposals may be more
suitable for other areas.
Panel Submissions: The Area Chair welcomes thematically linked panel
submissions. Please contact the Area Chair to discuss potential panel ideas.
Interdisciplinary Approaches: We encourage interdisciplinary approaches
that explore the intersection of AI and various cultural domains.

Subject: Workshop on Ontologies for Literature and Literary Studies, December 1-4, Brixen-Bressanone (Italy)
Dear all,
We would like to point out the first edition of the OntoLitS 2026 – Workshop on
Ontologies for Literature and Literary Studies<https://ontolit.wordpress.com/>,
which will be held in Brixen-Bressanone (Italy) at the PTH Brixen College on one
of the days between 1 and 4 December 2026.
The workshop will be dedicated both to the presentation of mature or ongoing
work and to the discussion of ideas still in their early stages of development.
The topics will lie at the intersection of literary research and knowledge
representation, with specific attention to the conceptual and methodological
challenges involved in developing ontological models for knowledge and data in
the literary domain. We will also focus on application-oriented contributions
demonstrating how ontologies can support research in literary studies.
Participation: it requires the submission of an abstract of no more than 1,000
words by 15 October 2026.
Depending on the participants’ interest and the number of contributions, the
organisers then intend to coordinate a special issue in a free open-access
journal.
All information is available online:
https://ontolit.wordpress.com/
The workshop will be organised in the context of TriCoLore 2026, a workshop
venue dedicated to interdisciplinary research topics around knowledge
representation:
https://tricolore.inf.unibz.it/
We hope to see you in Bressanone in December,
The workshop chairs,
Emilio Sanfilippo, Claudio Masolo, Evelyn Gius, and Federico Pianzola
