Dear all,

I hope you are having a great summer. Still a week to apply for the
post-doctoral position at the University of Warsaw. Please see below,
distribute, and consider applying if relevant. Thank you!

        Dear Colleagues,

We are inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher
position at the Centre of Excellence in Social Sciences as part
of the ERC NEWSUSE project (PI: Magdalena Wojcieszak).

        Application Deadline: August 15, 2026

        Details:
        https://cess.idub.uw.edu.pl/en/2026/07/new-job-opening-assistant-
professor-in-computational-social-sciences-erc-consolidator-grant/

        About the Role:

Are you an expert in computational social science or computer
science? Do you specialize in ML or LLMs, software development,
and innovative online experiments? Are you interested in social
media, their recommendation algorithms, polarization, and
        misinformation?

The ERC NEWSUSE project explores how to incentivize exposure to
quality and verified political news and information online to
minimize polarization, misinformation, extremism, etc. The
project includes experiments on mock platforms, social media
field experiments, and computer and data science methods. The
project may also entail algorithmic audits of social media
platforms using automated sock puppets and prompt engineering.
You will shape the specific questions and designs, and to
envision and implement innovative technological solutions to
increase the external validity of these designs.

We’re hiring an Assistant Professor in Storytelling and Digital Media at
Maastricht University

Stories have always shaped how we understand the world but today they’re being
reimagined through AI, immersive media, games, and interactive platforms. We are
looking for a colleague to help us explore that shift.
My Department, Literature and Art at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
(FASoS), Maastricht University, is opening an Assistant Professor position in
Storytelling and Digital Media.
What you'll do

  * Join our research program Arts, Media, and Culture (AMC) and collaborate
with centers like MACCH and the Center for Gender and Diversity;
  * Teach across our BA Digital Society, BA Arts and Culture, MA Media
Studies: Digital Cultures, and MA Arts and Culture programs;
  * Research how digital technologies transform narrative, from transmedia
storytelling and digital literature to AI-generated narratives and immersive
media;
  * Contribute to a 60% teaching / 40% research with room to grow research
time through external funding

What we're looking for

  * A PhD in digital humanities, media studies, literary studies, cultural
studies, or a related field
  * A growing publication record and appetite for collaborative grant
proposals
  * Hands-on, tech-savvy expertise across hardware, software, networking, or
big data applied to storytelling
  * Experience with Problem-Based Learning (PBL) or a genuine interest in it
  * C1 English and willingness to reach B1 Dutch within three years

What we offer
An 18-month contract with a real prospect of permanence, a generous monthly
salary, 8% holiday allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, flexible working
arrangements, and a close-knit, collegial department with genuine room to shape
your own research path.
FASoS is a small, informal, and diverse faculty where creativity and
interdisciplinary collaboration are the norm, not the exception. If you're
excited about where storytelling is heading and want to help build that future
with us, I'd love to hear from you.
