        Subject: FAIR Digital Humanities: the ATLAS Whitebook and Guidelines

Dear all,

I am writing on behalf of a small research group formed within the AIUCD
community, which over the past two years has been working on the publication of
a whitebook <https://doi.org/10.6092/unibo%2Famsacta%2F8808> and a set of
guidelines <https://dh-atlas.github.io/guidelines> for the creation of FAIR
research outputs in the field of Digital Humanities.

The complete whitebook and guidelines, published in the Quaderni di Umanistica
Digitale series, are one of the key research outputs of a now-completed PRIN
project, The ATLAS of Italian Digital Humanities<https://dh-atlas.github.io/>.
The aim is to map out and define clear methodological pathways for the creation
of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) research outputs that
meet the criteria of scientific excellence.

The guidelines are designed for quick, bite-sized consultation, so as to support
the community in the most common types of outputs in the Digital Humanities:
digital scholarly editions and text collections, software tools, ontologies and
Linked Open Data.

Although the project has been completed, this work is intended to evolve
alongside the academic community. Our aim is for these guidelines not to be an
end in themselves, but a common basis for discussion amongst those working in
the field of Digital Humanities.

We welcome comments, suggestions or other expressions of interest to help us
build on the work we have done. Even brief comments can be invaluable in
improving the work. In this case, we ask you to share your comments via this

We hope to have the opportunity to explore these issues in person during the
presentation to be held at the AIUCD conference in Cagliari, a forum for
discussion that we would like to be open to contributions from all interested
colleagues.
