EADH isn’t one person though - it is a UK charity established in 1980 (https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/charity- search/-/charity-details/279971/charity-overview), governed by UK charity law, and responsible for circa £100k a year annual income, and c. £100k reserves, which financially props up much Digital Humanities activity in publication and person worldwide. One person who couldn’t make a meeting could delegate responsibility to someone else in the organisation, as set out in the constitution. It’s been interesting talking to the community over the past few days at DH2024. I understand that there were no elections this year for EADH officers (which doesn’t abide by the constitution: https://eadh.org/about/constitution). I was told that there hasn’t been a meeting of the executive for over a year (which doesn’t abide by the constitution). Financial returns were filed late last year. Where are any plans for an EADH annual conference? Etc etc. I think to remedy this, it would be great if we could have a timetable set out for when the EADH AGM will be, and when the elections will be in running up to the AGM, and when we can see financial returns for reporting year 2023. Best wishes, and I look forward to you, Fabio, as Chair, communicating when the AGM will be, the schedule for elections in the run up to the AGM, and establishing when we can see the annual accounts. If you could set out this timetable by the end of August, and circulate it both here to Humanist and to EADH lists, that will give everyone comfort. There’s no need for this conversation to happen in private - none of us have anything to hide? Thanks! Dear Melissa, this year for me it was not possible to attend DH since I had an invitation to present and chair a session at the World Congress of Philosophy in Roma. I will organize an online asynchronous AGM later in the Autumn. As for the other issues, I will contact you personally. Hi folks, Hello from DH2024, which I’m enjoying very much - so good to see so many folks, and hear about such great work. I was wondering if anyone knew what was happening to EADH? It doesn’t have a presence at the annual ADHO conference here at DH2024, there is no members meeting, and there is no AGM. There have been no social network posts for months, and the website is at least a year out of date. I’ve been trying to contact the executive, and no-one has approved my message to the list, or replied to my query (see email chain below). This isn’t just about the fact that EADH isn’t engaging or supporting with its membership, and hasn’t turned up to the annual ADHO conference - its also about the governance of significant amounts of money tied to the DSH journal subscriptions, from both individuals and institutional subscriptions. Is everything ok with EADH? Does anyone know what is going on….? Is anyone else concerned? Fwd: EADH members/AGM meeting at DH2024? Date: 7 August 2024 at 11:05:35 GMT-4 Dear EADH Executive, I asked this question yesterday on the EADH list and it has not been approved to be sent. Please can you tell me when and where the AGM of EADH members will take place? Will there be a meeting at DH2024 for the community? If not, why not? If the AGM isn’t here - when and when were it will be? This isn’t just about the organisation of a scholarly association: it’s also about the appropriate governance of a substantial amount of membership fees, that support various mechanisms in our community. Is there a crisis in EADH? Nothing has been posted to the social media for some time, no-one is approving the email list posts, and there seems to be no community representation at DH2024. Can someone tell me what is going on? Is there going to be a meeting of EADH members? And if the AGM isn’t here at the Digital Humanities conference this week, where and when will it be? Thanks!
