As the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into historical research continues to reshape traditional methodologies, this Special Issue aims to explore the implications of AI in history writing, covering topics such as methodological transformations, ethical considerations, and the evolving role of AI as a research partner. We welcome contributions that address key questions, including but not limited to: • How AI is currently employed in historical research and writing • The impact of AI on historical methodologies and interpretations • The extent to which AI can function as a co-researcher • The transformation of history into a data-driven science • Ethical considerations surrounding AI in historical research • The development of AI tools specifically tailored for historical studies Deadline for manuscript submissions: 30 November 2025. We invite research articles and review articles. The recommended length for submissions is 4,000 to 5,000 words, with a maximum of 10,000 words. Accepted papers will be published on a rolling basis and listed together on the Special Issue website. If you are interested in contributing, we would greatly appreciate a tentative title and a short abstract (approximately 100 to 150 words) at your earliest convenience. For further details, including submission guidelines please check https://www.mdpi.com/journal/histories/special_issues/S5JI978200 We would be delighted if you could participate in this Special Issue and circulate the call among potential interested colleagues.
