Dear Willard

We are delighted to announce the publication of The Routledge Companion to
Libraries, Archives, and the Digital Humanities, edited By Isabel Galina Russell
and Glen Layne-Worthey.
<https://www.routledge.com/The-Routledge-Companion-to-Libraries-Archives-and-the-Digital-Humanities/Russell-Layne-Worthey/p/book/9781032356259>
The book is available in hardback and eBook formats. The Editors’ Introduction
is free to view.and two chapters are Open Access.

This volume covers a wide range of issues encountered in the world’s libraries
and archives as they continue to expand their support of, and direct engagement
in, DH research and teaching. Topics include the practice of librarianship,
libraries and archives as DH-friendly institutions, and issues of importance to
library and archives workers themselves: labour, sustainability, organisation
and infrastructure; also the focused professional practices that reflect the
increasingly important role of librarians and archivists as active research
partners. One of the central motifs of the book is that the “two fields”—DH, on
the one hand, and library, archival, and information sciences on the other—are
in fact deeply intertwined, productively interdependent, and mutually
reinforcing.

This is the first volume in a new Series: Routledge Companions to the Digital
Humanities.
<https://www.routledge.com/Routledge-Companions-to-the-Digital-Humanities/book-series/RCDH>

The aim of the series is to produce large, comprehensive edited volumes that
provide a state-of-the-art overview and analysis of specialist areas in the
Digital Humanities (DH). It aims to be truly international in scope, and
contributions from emerging scholars are welcomed, as are those from the field’s
acknowledged leaders. The interdisciplinary nature of DH will be reflected in
each volume and across the series as a whole. Addressing the many developments
and challenges in DH – not only in research, but in pedagogy – Companion volumes
will discuss cutting-edge innovation, projects and best practice across a range
of topics relevant to DH.

A distinguished Editorial and Advisory Board has been appointed to offer
guidance in the development of the new series. Their names and affiliations are
available on the series website, as above.

Two further volumes are in production - see the website for details. We would
be very pleased to receive suggestions or outline proposals for future volumes!
Please feel free to contact any of the Series Editors or the Routledge Editor -
contact details below.

This new series complements the well-established monograph series Digital
Research in the Arts and Humanities, with 47 volumes published to date, the 47th
published in December! (https://www.routledge.com/Digital-Research-in-the-Arts-
and-Humanities/book-series/DRAH)

The Series Editors of the new Companion series are also among the Series Editors
of the monograph series, and we very much welcome proposals for either series.

welcome approaches from potential editors and authors.
