Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 38, No. 270. Department of Digital Humanities, University of Cologne Hosted by DH-Cologne www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2024-12-06 07:37:02+00:00 From: Willard McCarty <willard.mccarty@mccarty.org.uk> Subject: spamming of Humanist Thanks to the excellet facilities provided for Humanist at Cologne, it has been well protected from spam until recently. For the last couple of weeks, a bot has been sending false applications for membership, fortunately with such badly constructed biographical text that they are easy to spot. Apart from the annoyance having to delete them that this causes, it also creates a situation in which it's also easy to delete a valid one inadvertently. Unfortunately once deleted these valid applications are not retrievable. If you know anyone whose application has not been accepted, please tell them to try again. I am trying to be more alert than usual when processing them -- and weeding out the bot's junk. All best, WM -- Willard McCarty, Professor emeritus, King's College London; Editor, Interdisciplinary Science Reviews; Humanist www.mccarty.org.uk _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted List posts to: humanist@dhhumanist.org List info and archives at at: http://dhhumanist.org Listmember interface at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted/ Subscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/membership_form.php
