Department of Digital Humanities, University of Cologne Hosted by DH-Cologne www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2024-08-28 15:10:14+00:00 From: Schaefer, M.T. (Mirko) <m.t.schaefer@uu.nl> Subject: OA book: Collaborative Research for the Datafied Society. Methods & Practices for Investigation & Intervention Dear list, we would like to point you to the open access book Collaborative Research for the Datafied Society. Methods & Practices for Investigation & Intervention (eds Mirko Tobias Schäfer, Karin van Es, Tracey P. Lauriault), which presents theoretical perspectives on societally engaged, co-created, collaborative research (Part 1) and presents actual examples of collaborative research projects with proven impact and knowledge transfer (Part 2): <https://www.aup.nl/en/book/9789463727679/collaborative-research-in-the-datafied-society> We argue that collaborative research allows for studying phenomena up close, to immerse into societal sectors and to position researchers for effective intervention and knowledge transfer. Our aim with this contribution is to facilitate connections among colleagues across different disciplines who are already involved, in some capacity, in similar research efforts. We hope to inspire others who are addressing issues relevant to current societal challenges, and those compelled to interact with stakeholders and audiences beyond the academic sphere, by providing them with practical guidance on practices and methods for setting up collaborative research projects, and to lead scholars in new directions. We will also host a conference on 7 & 8 April 2025 in Utrecht to bring practitioners of collaborative research together, present best practices, discuss challenges and connect with extra-academic partners. Finally, we want to inform university policymakers about the challenges posed by collaborative research, encouraging them to design policies that support these endeavors and appropriately recognize and reward the efforts and accomplishments of university faculty and employees involved in such work. The book is open access available: https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.500.12657/92631 If you have questions or would like to share your research practices and experience with us, or participate in the mentioned conference, please do send an email: m.t.schaefer@uu.nl Best wishes, mirko Mirko Tobias Schäfer | Associate Professor AI, Data & Society| Sciences Lead at Data School | Department of Information & Computing Sciences | Utrecht University | ICS | Princetonplein 5 | 3584 CC Utrecht | M: m.t.schaefer@uu.nl<mailto:m.t.schaefer@uu.nl> | W: www.dataschool.nl<http://www.dataschool.nl> _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted List posts to: humanist@dhhumanist.org List info and archives at at: http://dhhumanist.org Listmember interface at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted/ Subscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/membership_form.php
