Call for 3D digital scholarly editions
<https://pure3d.eu/call-for-projects-2024/.>

Interested in making more of your 3D models than making them available on
Sketchfab? Ever wondered about how to add context to your model as is common
with text-based editions? Ever thought you might like to create a narrative
around the 3D model that would emulate in a virtual way what visitors to museums
experience in person?

Then PURE3D’s call for 3D digital scholarly editions is for you! PURE3D,
the infrastructure for publication and preservation of 3D scholarly editions
(funded by Platform Digitale Infrastructuur – Social Sciences & Humanities),
has opened a call for new projects. These editions take as their premise that
the 3D model is a valuable source for the communication of research findings,
digital narratives, (alternative) hypotheses, and (historical) contexts. Within
this paradigm, 3D models are the “text” which can be enriched via multimodal
annotation, articles, and tours. We welcome projects from any field, both from
the researchers as well as curators from the heritage sector.

Successful applicants will receive guidance and support from the PURE3D team in
the form of virtual workshops, tutorials, and fully-paid face to face meetings.
Projects will also benefit from individual mentorship by PURE3D staff, technical
and conceptual support, and data preservation. As part of the OPER3D
<https://pure3d.eu/oper3d/> project (funded by NWO), project participants will
also contribute to the development of a peer review workflow and practice,
ultimately aiming at the publication of a peer-reviewed 3D scholarly edition.
