        Subject: A new journal

Dear Willard,

after searching through the archive of Humanist I think I am not the
only one who has overlooked a new journal, which may be of considerable
interest to the members of the list.

"Culture Digitali" - https://www.diculther.it/rivista/ - offers as
editorial policy:

"... the online magazine will be made up of various thematic sections
which will have the aim of collecting current contributions on the
problems and challenges of /Digital Humanities/and /Digital Cultural
Heritage/in different theoretical and applied contexts."

As far as I can see, these goals are fulfilled quite impressively, and I
seem to find a closer connection between digital cultural heritage and
the analytic purposes of the Humanities than in some fora, which tend to
subsume the Humanities as part of the curatorial requirements of GLAM.

The magazine is primarily Italian, which is interesting in itself, as
the intensive discussions of that community may find less attention in
other linguistic communities than they deserve. What I consider really
impressive, however, is that absolutely ALL contributions are available
in Nederlands, Francais, Deutsch, Italiano, Portugues, Espanol and
English, irrespective of the language of the original communication.
These are the result of automatic translation. While the English texts
seems to be quite good generally, the German variant is at the state of
the art of these tools, i.e., less good, and I assume the other
non-English-nor-Italian versions will also be slightly downgraded. But
"less good" for me seems definitely acceptable and the overall
linguistic offer seems to be way beyond many attempts at multilinguality
I am aware of.

Kind regards,
Manfred
