Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 37, No. 265. Department of Digital Humanities, University of Cologne Hosted by DH-Cologne www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2023-10-17 08:31:44+00:00 From: Ken Friedman <ken.friedman.sheji@icloud.com> Subject: Re: [Humanist] 37.261: Phishing alert Dear Elisabeth, It could be worse. They could say that your treasurer is a prince from an oil- rich nation who is dying of oesophageal cancer, and you need help establishing an orphanage in his memory. Or perhaps you’d like the recipient of the email to invest €10,000,000 on your behalf and you’ll give them 10% in advance if they give you a good-faith accounting fee of only €5,000 and send you all their bank details so you can transfer the funds. I knew this was a phishing expedition because the story was relatively modest — and because they spell pressident with two letters “s.” Yours, Ken Friedman > On 17 Oct 2023, at 08:36, Humanist <humanist@dhhumanist.org> wrote: > Date: 2023-10-16 11:29:09+00:00 > From: Elisabeth Burr <elisabeth.burr@uni-leipzig.de> > Subject: Phishing alert > > Dear all, > > -----Please, please discard any mails like the following-----: > ------------------------------------------- > > Thank you for your response.
