Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 36, No. 23. Department of Digital Humanities, University of Cologne Hosted by DH-Cologne www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2022-05-20 20:40:09+00:00 From: Yeager, Sean <yeager.211@buckeyemail.osu.edu> Subject: Virtual reading group: How We Became Posthuman Dear friends and colleagues, I'm reaching out to gauge interest in a virtual summer reading group for Katherine Hayles's How We Became Posthuman: Virtual Bodies in Cybernetics, Literature, and Informatics <https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/H/bo3769963.html>. The basic idea is that we'll keep a pace of approximately one chapter per week and convene three times over summer (probably mid-June, mid-July, and mid- August) over Zoom. If there's enough interest, I'll send out a Doodle poll to figure out people's availability for specific dates I'll take responsibility for arranging logistics and for keeping the space respectful, but I'm imagining this as an informal salon. I'm reaching out to folks from a variety of backgrounds (physicists, artists, narrative theorists, digital humanists, and disability scholars, to name a few) to approach the text on equal footing, regardless of institutional certification/position/affiliation No commitment requirements; no discussion agendas. Just tune in as you're able, and the conversations will revolve around whatever things we find most interesting about the text If this seems up your alley, please send me an email at yeager.211@osu.edu<mailto:yeager.211@osu.edu>. Likewise, please feel welcome to reach out about questions, concerns, or access needs All the best, Sean Sean Yeager, M.Sc., M.A. Ph.D. Candidate in English Ohio State University _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted List posts to: humanist@dhhumanist.org List info and archives at at: http://dhhumanist.org Listmember interface at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted/ Subscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/membership_form.php
