Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 36, No. 210. Department of Digital Humanities, University of Cologne Hosted by DH-Cologne www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2022-10-12 06:05:56+00:00 From: Marco Antonio Stranisci <marcoantonio.stranisci@unito.it> Subject: The Under-Represented Writers Knowledge Dear all, This is Marco Stranisci, a PhD student in Computer Science from Italy. I write this mail because for my doctorate I created a dataset of writers and their works gathered from Wikipedia and other sources of knowledge. In this resource, writers are clusterized as 'Transnational' or 'Western' on the basis of their ethnic origins. Such categorization allows us to explore the potential lack of representation of non-Western people in the digital environment. The dataset is available here: https://purl.archive.org/urwriters/kg. I also prepared some predefined queries to let you explore it. I think that such a dataset may be interesting for this community and I also would like to improve it with your comments. For this reason I wonder if you could provide feedback on the resource by replying to me or by participating in a focus group *the 27th of October at 7pm (CEST)*. If your interested in the focus group, please let me know by filling this form: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s7zzWQIe2gg5z0Fyy2sGMYEcMgGWObnqKGC8LV7L tH0/edit#gid=0 Best Marco -- You didn’t see the thing because you don’t know how to look. And you don’t know how to look because you don’t know the names _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted List posts to: humanist@dhhumanist.org List info and archives at at: http://dhhumanist.org Listmember interface at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted/ Subscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/membership_form.php
