This is particularly the case for critical editions, which, notably when compared to print editions, can now profit from the flexibility of XML with TEI tag suite, full-text or faceted search functionalities, semantic annotations, named entity recognition and continuous improvement. The use of cognitive computing techniques based on Artificial Intelligence for e.g. machine learning-based classification and natural language processing, is making the transcription of sources and annotation of texts easier. Several cutting-edge projects are continuously being developed and made available, however, their outreach and impact is often limited by lack of awareness of such advancements by research groups which, due to the limitations of established collaboration networks, lack of institutional guidance and other factors, miss out on the achievements by fellow scholars. The aim of this conference is to gather accounts of different experiences with integrating the use of cognitive computing in the production of digital publications - particularly addressing TEI-XML as target format. It is intended as a venue for participants to share their insights into technological improvements, proposals for methodological advancements, innovations in editorial workflows and possibly novel models for them. Topics we would like to discuss include but are not limited to - Text recognition and neural machines: how to get better sources - Conversion workflows, from scans to structured transcriptions - FAIR linked publications workflows and usability considerations - Critical digital editions and digital reprints in TEI - Annotations and machine annotations - References extraction and cross references - Online publishing for TEI editions Organizing Committee: Alessandro Adamou, Bibliotheca Hertziana Max Planck Institute for Art History Elisa Bastianello, Bibliotheca Hertziana Max Planck Institute for Art History Christine Grundig, Kunsthistorisches Institut & Digital History Lab, University of Zurich Call for presentations: Please submit your proposal for a 20-minute presentation (title and a max 500 words abstract) to call@humanitiesconnect.pub <call@humanitiesconnect.pub?subject=DP4H%20Presentation%20Proposal> by September 5th, 2022. The conference is planned in hybrid mode (in presence and in streaming), but if conditions allow it, a local presence will be desirable. Extended abstracts of selected presentations will be published open access after the congress (details to be defined). _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted List posts to: humanist@dhhumanist.org List info and archives at at: http://dhhumanist.org Listmember interface at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted/ Subscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/membership_form.php
