Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 35, No. 602. Department of Digital Humanities, University of Cologne Hosted by DH-Cologne www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2022-03-16 14:08:44+00:00 From: Kelly McClinton <kelly.mcclinton@MERTON.OX.AC.UK> Subject: "Rethink, Reshape, Reinstate: 3D models as a bridge between space regeneration and cultural identity" / Matteo Lombardi (Università degli Studi di Ferrara) Dear All, This Friday's Ancient Architecture Discussion Group session at the University of Oxford will be hosted online at 4pm GMT. We are pleased to welcome Matteo Lombardi (Università degli Studi di Ferrara). Matteo will be presenting a paper entitled "Rethink, Reshape, Reinstate: 3D models as a bridge between space regeneration and cultural identity". Abstract: 'The primary archaeological context for my project is the Via Appia. One of the main goals of the principal European funding programs is sustainable development through architectural and spatial regeneration. My research argues that a successful approach to this ongoing challenge in cultural heritage management is building cultural identity and a sense of community through 3D data sharing. In short, sharing digital data about architecture, finds, and spaces could be a way to foster the ongoing archaeological research and actively involve the archaeological legacies in urban and social transformations as a pivot into a planned strategy and not a tie. The first case study in my project is the Via Appia; this paper will present the overarching argument for the project and results to date.' We look forward to welcoming you.
