        Subject: Announcing EMNLP 2022

Empirical Methods in Natural Language Processing (EMNLP 2022)

We are delighted to announce that EMNLP 2022 will be held December 7-11 in
Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. It will be a
hybrid conference and we plan to continue improving the hybrid experience.

Our physical venue will be the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre -
https://adnec.ae/. The local team will be led by Prof. Nizar Habash (NYU
Abu Dhabi) and Prof. Eric Xing (MBZUAI). We have accepted 24 workshops and
5 tutorials planned for December 7-8.

A demo track and (for the first time at EMNLP) industry track are
planned. The program chairs – Yoav Goldberg, Zornitsa Kozareva, and Yue
Zhang – will announce our plan for conference submissions soon.

Situated on a set of islands in the Persian Gulf, Abu Dhabi is a
cosmopolitan city with a very large international presence (90% of
residents). English is the lingua franca. Abu Dhabi is among the safest
cities in the world (ranked #31 overall by the 2021 Safe Cities Index
<https://safecities.economist.com/>) with a culture that embraces diversity
while emphasizing mutual tolerance and privacy --- an umbrella under which
many lifestyles thrive.

Abu Dhabi offers many tourist attractions (https://visitabudhabi.ae/en) to
a wide range of tastes, from beautiful beaches, mangrove parks, desert
safaris, and traditional souks, to museums (e.g., Louvre Abu Dhabi),
monuments (e.g., the Grand Mosque, Abrahamic Family House), and theme parks
(e.g., Ferrari World, Warner Bros World). Dubai is only 1.5 hours away by
car.

Many different hotel options (at different prices) are available near the
venue, and Abu Dhabi boasts direct flights to New Delhi, London, NYC,
Sydney, and many more. Daytime temperatures around December 11 tend to be
in the low 20s (Celsius)/mid 70s (Fahrenheit).

Best regards,

Wajdi Zaghouani and Eunsol Choi
