Harris <katherine.harris@sjsu.edu> Subject: Join QuickBites Discussion on The Facebook Papers, 11/17 @ 5pm PST (Virtual) Hi All, "QuickBites: a Forum on Urgent News" [https://www.sjsu.edu/ha-in-action/engage/public-programming-opportunities/quickbites.php], is a new initiative sponsored by San José State University's H&A in Action, H&A in San Jose, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, to bring you informal conversations about the most urgent news of the moment. Each month, two faculty from the College of Humanities and the Arts at San José State University will dive into an informal conversation about a specific news article, post, or video. We welcome registrants to submit questions in advance. Join us for the inaugural conversation on November 17, 2021 @ 5pm PST as Étienne Brown (Philosophy) and Chelsea Thompto (Digital Media Art) talk about New York Times Facebook Papers and what this whistleblower reveals about how Facebook allows content that seriously affects body image in teens, promotes hateful content, spreads election disinformation, and many other dilemmas in many countries, including the U.S. and India, specifically on Instagram and WhatsApp. Send us your questions about this social media giant and how these revelations may affect you and your friends. Register (free and open to the public) to join us for the live-stream and submit your questions.
