Humanist Discussion Group, Vol. 35, No. 279. Department of Digital Humanities, University of Cologne Hosted by DH-Cologne www.dhhumanist.org Submit to: humanist@dhhumanist.org Date: 2021-10-05 19:43:08+00:00 From: John Wall <jnwall@ncsu.edu> Subject: The Virtual St Paul's Cathedral Project Folks, I'm happy to announce that the Virtual St Paul's Cathedral Project has gone live. There is still some cleanup work to do on the website, but the bulk of the work is done. On the site, you can tour our model of St Paul's Cathedral, inside and out, as well as Paul's Churchyard, in a fly-around, a walking tour, and (for the Choir) a VR version. You can hear two full days of worship inside St Paul's -- Easter Sunday 1624, a festival day, and the Tuesday after the First Sunday in Advent in 1625, a ferial, or very ordinary day, with full choral services and sermons by Lancelot Andrewes and John Donne -- over 6 hours of recordings. You will hear them as they would have sounded in the Choir of the Cathedral. There is also a good bit of background material, discussions of the opportunities and challenges of digital modeling, documentation of the Cathedral's officers and staff, and suggestions for further research in several areas of the project. And, as they say, much, much more. Our website is here: https://vpcathedral.chass.ncsu.edu/ Our press release is here: https://news.ncsu.edu/2021/10/recreating-17th-century-london/ Please let me know what you think. And, please pass the word on to your colleagues. JNW -- *John N.
