[Thanks to Jim K for the following help, and esp to Jan Rybicki for uncovering it on YouTube, at (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX3ghQWoYhE). After watching the movie through, I am glad to say that framing the SSEC in the paranoia of the early 1950s and connecting the machine with research that is said to enable placing an object (read missile) anywhere on earth does indeed put the machine in context. BTW, you may be interested to check out Alastair Cooke's description of his visit to 'Papa', as the SSEC was called, in his book One Man's America (1952). It has a sequence shot in the World Headquarters of IBM in Manhattan that takes place around the Selective Sequence Electronic Calculator. I would like to see this in its total context. Unfortunately I've been unable to find it anywhere. Many thanks. Off-list offers would exceed a warm welcome!
