Subject: Propose a Course! DH@Guelph Summer Workshops, May 4-7th, 2020

We are excited to announce that we are holding an open call for course
proposals for our sixth year of summer workshops, to be held May 4-7th,
2020. Workshops on any aspect of digital humanities work will be
considered, and those that work towards inclusion, diversity, and openness
are particularly encouraged. Proposals will be selected by the local
organizing committee with a view to meeting demand for particular topics
(game design, augmented/virtual reality, and Python/R for beginners), as
well as instructor experience and qualifications.

Please note that all workshop instructors will be asked to submit a reading
list for their courses no later than April 1st, 2020. In order to encourage
rich conversation from a variety of perspectives in each workshop, the
organizing committee asks that all instructors seek readings that go beyond
the usual suspects: readings by women (and not only white women), people of
colour, the LGTBQ+ community, and differently abled authors are strongly
encouraged. Our goal is to see at least 50% of the readings for these
classes come from these groups. If instructors require assistance with this
aspect of their reading list, please reach out before April 1st.

The Summer Workshops will run over four days, May 4-7th, 2020, and will be
immediately followed by Making LINCS, a conference on linked open data for
the humanities. DHatGuelph covers the cost of travel, residence
accommodation, and a modest honorarium for visiting instructors. Note that
our budget is limited, so if your expenses will be significant we are
unlikely to be able to accept the proposal. If you have grant or
institutional sponsorship towards some of your costs, that would be welcome
as we strive to keep registration costs low.

To propose a course, please fill in the following form

Applications are due December 1st, 2019. We plan to offer approximately 8
courses in 2020, so adhering to the deadline is necessary for
consideration. You will be notified of results by Dec 15th, 2019.

If you'd like to see what courses were offered last year, please take a
look at the 2019 DH@Guelph Summer Workshops

to approach us about ideas for potential workshops.

We look forward to hearing from you!
