Through this group exhibition, curators Sophia Oppel and Philip Leonard Ocampo highlight the coercive power hidden beneath the seamless aesthetics of consumer devices and online interfaces. Artists Sarah Friend, Guillaume Pascale, Shaheer Tarar, and Sahar Te challenge the supposed neutrality of digital platforms that treat user data as a commodity. By manipulating the tools of surveillance capitalism, their works seek to restore agency to the user. -- Francois Lachance Scholar-at-large http://www.chass.utoronto.ca/~lachance https://berneval.hcommons.org _______________________________________________ Unsubscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted List posts to: email@example.com List info and archives at at: http://dhhumanist.org Listmember interface at: http://dhhumanist.org/Restricted/ Subscribe at: http://dhhumanist.org/membership_form.php
