The DL workshop is the major annual event of the description logic
research community. The workshop is thought as a gathering forum to
meet, discuss and exchange experiences among all those, both in
academia and industry, who are interested in description logics and
their applications.

SCOPE

We invite contributions on all aspects of description logics.
Possible subjects include:

* Foundations of description logics, including expressive power,
    decidability and complexity of reasoning, novel inference problems,
    and reasoning techniques for solving these problems.

* Extensions of description logics, including, but not limited to,
    closed world reasoning, defaults, epistemic reasoning, temporal and
    spatial reasoning, procedural knowledge, and query languages.

* Integration of description logics with other formalisms, such as
    object-oriented representation languages, database query languages,
    constraint-based programming, logic programming, and rule-based
    systems.

* Use of description logics in applications or areas such as ontology
    engineering, ontology languages, databases, semi-structured data,
    document management, natural language, learning, planning, semantic
    web, and grid computing.

* Building systems based on description logics, with special emphasis
    on optimization and implementation techniques.

* Tools that exploit description Logic reasoning, such as ontology
    editors, database schema design, query optimization, and data
    integration tools.

* Mandate

The Digital Humanities Summer Institute provides an environment ideal to
discuss, to learn about, and to advance skills in new computing
technologies influencing the work of those in the Arts, Humanities and
Library communities. The institute takes place across a week of
intensive coursework, seminar participation, and lectures. It brings
together faculty, staff, and graduate student theorists,
experimentalists, technologists, and administrators from different areas
of the Arts, Humanities, Library and Archives communities and beyond to
share ideas and methods, and to develop expertise in applying advanced
technologies to activities that impact teaching, research, dissemination
and preservation.

* Host and Sponsors

The institute is hosted by the University of Victoria's Faculty of
Humanities, its Humanities Computing and Media Centre, and its
Electronic Textual Cultures Lab, and has been sponsored by the
University of Victoria and its Library, University of British Columbia
Library, Simon Fraser University Library, Acadia University, the Society
for Digital Humanities / Soci=E9t=E9 pour l'=E9tude des m=E9dias=
  interactifs,
the Association for Computers and the Humanities, the Social Science and
Humanities Research Council of Canada's Image, Text, Sound and
Technology Program, and others.
