Please join us for a virtual panel on the *Role of Academic Institutions in
Responsible Computing

Responsible Computing awardee at San Jose State University.

Date & Time: May 7, 1-3pm PST

In this hybrid event, San José State University faculty working on
responsible computing from a variety of perspectives will ask:

   - What role should academic institutions play in supporting responsible
   computing?
   - Are we equipping our students to deal with an ethically complex
   digital world?
   - And how can we do better?

Join us on Tue 5/7th from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm PST 
In person in the King Library Public Meeting Room 255. Food will
be provided by Sharmaji. Coffee and pastries will be provided by Nirvana

Meet our speakers!
Dr. Nada Attar’s focuses on Computer Vision and Human-Computer
Interaction (HCI). Her recent research in HCI can play a critical role in
teaching the innovation of user interface design and implementation of
high-performance applications, while considering the ethics and diversity
in computer science.

Dr. Katherine D. Harris leads the College of Humanities & Arts’
interdisciplinary initiatives around Public Humanities, directs several
grant-funded projects focused on community engagement and digital projects,
and teaches history of the book and print culture. Her work in building
infrastructures to implement large-scale changes in higher education
through ethical and equitable methods brings her to this discussion around
all things tech and social justice.

Dr. Michele Villagran comes to the project with a unique combination of
expertise in cultural competence and intelligence, and legal informatics.
Villagran frequently consults in diversity, equity and inclusion, and
cultural intelligence, and is a recognized leader in the domain.
