        Subject: recommendations?

I'm looking for recommendations of the most thorough and impartial
studies that consider the ways in which data and algorithms acquire and
communicate theory-laden or prejudicial knowledge. How do we convince
someone that data (including software systems) are not neutral?

More demanding, I would suppose, is the way certain online genres nudge
(even encourage?) their users to communicate snap judgments, prejudices
and so on. For my current purposes the former is more of interest, but
recommendations for sources dealing with the latter would also be welcome.

Many thanks.

Yours,
WM
